Ohio Home Transformation with Infinity from Marvin Windows and Patio Doors

An Ohio family recently replaced the builder-grade, vinyl windows in their 12-year-old home with new, Infinity from Marvin fiberglass windows.

Dealing with Drafty Windows

Jon and his wife had been dreaming of changing the aesthetic of their home for years, wanting to transition from the original, colonial look to a modern farmhouse style. They envisioned opening their living room to the adjacent deck to open the space.

“We were having issues with draftiness and seal failures, and the windows were difficult to open and close,” said the homeowner, Jon.

The family’s three biggest considerations for their home improvement project included:

  1. Cost: Selecting high-quality windows and patio doors within their budget was at the top of their priority list.
  2. Style: The overall aesthetics of the windows and patio doors were important to achieve the modern farmhouse style the family was dreaming of. Jon and his wife knew they wanted to change the grid patterns, transition to windows with a thinner frame than vinyl, and drastically change the exterior color from white to black.
  3. Materials: Upgrading to a fiberglass product was another important factor. Infinity products are built-to-order, allowing Jon and his family to customize their fiberglass windows and patio doors to reflect the style they wanted to achieve while providing the necessary upgrades where their old windows were failing.

Dreaming of a Drastic Demolition

Another dream on the couple’s wish list was to change the layout of the home, adding more daylight opening to allow natural light to flood into the living room.

“We took an entire wall out in our living room and replaced it with a 16-foot patio door opening out to our deck,” said Jon. “We decided to go with Infinity from Marvin because we wanted a fiberglass window in a black exterior and liked the overall look and thin frames.”

The Infinity Sliding Patio Door allowed the couple to knock out a wall and replace it with a four-panel door with an ebony exterior and white interior. Thanks to the strength and durability of Ultrex® fiberglass, the thin frames allow abundant light into the room.

“We’re now the house in the neighborhood that everyone hangs out at when the patio door is open on a nice day,” said Jon. “You have people hanging out on the deck and people inside hanging out on the couch.”

The renovation project also features a new Infinity Inswing French Door out to the deck from the dining room with the same ebony exterior and white interior.

“Our neighbors make comments about our house now. We live in a cookie-cutter development where all the houses look similar, and now our house really stands out,” said Jon. “Every day when we pull up to the house we say ‘look at our house, look at how nice it looks’. The ebony exterior has just changed the overall look of the house.”
