Transforming a 1948 Federal-Style Home with Infinity Replacement Windows

Lakeside Renovation and Design transformed a St. Louis home with new siding, copper accents, and custom Infinity from Marvin windows. Infinity windows perfectly complement other quality products selected by Lakeside for the project, including James Hardie siding and ProVia entry doors.

Choosing the right windows

During an in-home consultation with a design consultant from Lakeside, homeowners can explore Infinity’s design tools on an iPad to customize their window configurations, colors, hardware options, grille patterns, and more to match their style.

Lakeside focuses on education during an in-home consultation. They focus on building relationships, not pushing products. If homeowners aren’t ready to commit during the consultation, they are welcome to visit the showroom to experience Infinity windows in person, ensuring a relaxed, low-pressure experience from start to finish.

Handling wood rot

During this replacement project, Lakeside identified rotting wood in the previous windows. Their team addressed all structural issues, including the wood rot, without covering it up. Using a full-frame installation method all the old, rotting window materials were removed, and the opening was rebuilt to code before the new fiberglass windows were installed. At Lakeside Renovation and Design, quality craftsmanship is non-negotiable.

Maintaining the traditional style of the home

To preserve the home’s traditional style, the homeowners selected traditional divided lite patterns and a classic color selection to preserve the home’s historic charm. Infinity’s flexible design options allowed the Lakeside team to match the original style while upgrading window performance and durability.

Design details

The homeowners selected a white interior and exterior finish for their Infinity from Marvin windows, keeping things classic but adding black shutters for a design touch on the exterior of the home. They also opted for Simulated Divided Lites (SDLs) to mimic the original window design and maintain the home's architectural integrity.

Preserving the original double-hung window design throughout most of the home was important. Still, the homeowners also reimagined specific areas, like a bay window, to improve their view and bring in more natural light. Design consultants worked closely with the homeowners to balance tradition with function. To enhance natural light, the Lakeside team leveraged Infinity’s slim frame profile and exposed glass, replacing smaller or obstructed openings with wider windows to allow more sunlight to fill each space.

The final reveal

By the end of the project, the homeowners were thrilled. The transformation elevated the look and feel of their home while solving long-term problems. They especially loved how the new windows paired with their updated siding, shutters, and copper accents for a cohesive, high-end finish.
